What 's special?
- Short scientific introduction
- expert tour guides
- A little adventure with lots of discoveries
Nothing is more exciting than a treasure hunt. The treasure trove is over 250 million years old and filled to the brim - the Rüdersdorf limestone mine. After a short scientific introduction in the 'Otto-Torell-Haus', the geological tour takes you into the active open-cast mine in Rüdersdorf together with expert guides.
At the collection point, it's time to roll up your sleeves and keep your eyes peeled. We can't promise that you'll find a dinosaur here, but fossils are literally a dime a dozen. Incidentally, this is exactly what brought the animals we find here to this place.
250 million years ago, the Triassic Sea was in these parts, and its former inhabitants can be found in the rocks today. The geological tour is a little adventure with lots of discoveries. The tour guides are of course on hand during the tour to offer help and advice.

What has always made Rüdersdorf so special as a small Brandenburg village is a freak of nature: Around 800 years ago, a gentle hill of limestone stood out in the otherwise flat landscape in the middle of Berlin's sandy surroundings. The stone was quarried and used as building stone. Rüdersdorf was already producing quicklime in the 16th century - and cement from 1885. The Rüdersdorf Museum Park is the only historical lime and mine in the world to have been preserved in this variety. Nowhere else can you find such an ensemble of industrial history.
